Ãœberblick

Overview

Artificial intelligence. Cutting-edge technologies. Digitization & Innovation.

We are a technology company specializing in AI with more than 10 years of experience in processing machine learning algorithms. As a system house, we offer holistic AI-based individual solutions from a single source. We provide appropriate technologies from data acquisition to data processing to a desired user interface. Our AI-based hardware
and software products are developed explicitly for industry and universities.
SNAP's vision for the future is the development of a Brain Computer Interface system.

SNAP is located on the health campus in Bochum. In CUBE17 (Smart Health Innovation Cent) our team of experts develops the future-oriented AI solutions of our two business areas. The CUBE17 brings together a wide variety of well-known companies in an inspiring environment with views of the countryside. These positive location factors are reinforced by the scientific expertise of the Ruhr University Bochum and the neighboring Ruhr-Area universities and universities of applied sciences in Dortmund, Duisburg, Essen, Gelsenkirchen, Hamm and Witten.

Future-oriented AI expertise: AG and GmbH

Around 20 employees work in our holding structure, which includes SNAP GmbH and SNAP Discovery AG includes. As one of the few technology companies in Europe, our company focuses on the development of brain-computer interface systems (BCI) in order to revolutionize human-machine interaction. Our 100% subsidiary of SNAP DISCOVERY AG is SNAP GmbH. In our GmbH we market both our AI-based inspection systems (SNAP Vision) and innovative BCI solutions for colleges and universities that are based on our AI toolbox (SNAP BCI).

Forschungsengagement

Research commitment

SNAP focuses on cutting-edge technologies, so AI-based research and development work is very important to us as a technology company. It is not only our goal to further develop the use of artificial intelligence in our products and services in a future-oriented and sustainable manner, but also to primarily build a brain-computer interface system. Our well-established research network and the well-founded scientific background knowledge of our employees enables us to implement it optimally. SNAP GmbH is currently being funded by the European Union (European Regional Development Fund (ERDF)) and by the state of North Rhine-Westphalia. Together with the Klaeslab, the university hospital Knappschaftskrankenhaus Bochum, the university hospital Bergmannsheil in Bochum, the Medecon Ruhr and the Hochschule Ruhr West companies, SNAP GmbH is involved in the following projects:

projects_2.PNG

In the project VAFES we are developing a standardized test and diagnostic system for neurological movement disorders (e.g. Parkinson's) based on biosignals and movement data that via machine learning can be modeled and implemented in virtual reality (VR). The recording of multiple biosignals in combination with precise movement data enables the use of the latest machine learning (ML) algorithms for the diagnosis, classification and therapy control of neurological hand and arm dysfunctions for the first time. For this project, SNAP GmbH is developing, among other things, electronics for the integrated measurement system for the biosignals and the data management system for analyzing the biosignals.

In the project REXO we are developing a holistic rehabilitation system whose key component is a biomechanically designed, adaptive exoskeleton for the upper extremities. The system includes the design and implementation of motion tasks in virtual reality, a biosignal-based feedback system, and a generic decoder for invasive and non-invasive brain-computer interfaces. The exoskeleton takes into account the individual boundary conditions of the disease. SNAP GmbH is developing a brain-computer interface for this exoskeleton, specifically with a view to rehabilitation, in order to enable control of the exoskeleton via the brain.
